July Medal - Saturday 16 July
Unfortunately due to poor weather, the July Medal had to be postponed.
GUW Boys and Girls Championship
Pennard was Proud to host the 2016 Golf Union Wales Boys and Girls Championship. The course was set up and cut to perfection. It was a very busy week with many of Wales' top junior golfers competing. The format was 2 rounds of stroke play and then 4 rounds of match play for the juniors who made the cut, so it was a really tough mental test for the young golfers. It was a successful week which ran very smoothly. Well done to the Pennard members who kindly volunteered to marshal the event.

TaylorMade M1 Driver Sale!
Get a dozen FREE golf balls worth £45 when you purchase an M1 Driver at Pennard! We have full custom fitting available!
TaylorMade's longest driver, the M1 has a multi-material construction - featuring an ultra-thin, ultra-light and high-strength carbon composite crown - that can achieve breakthroughs in distance, playability, and feel for all golfers. This addition has allowed TaylorMade to build a weight-loaded sole and move overall clubhead weight (and, thus, the center-of-gravity) lower for a more efficient power transfer, giving golfers more ball speed (otherwise known as WHAMMY).
To make their longest driver ever, for a wide range of golfers, TaylorMade needed to expand the settings to give golfers more options to personalize performance to fit their game. M1 features the revolutionary T-Track System that consists of both a front and back track with 25 grams of adjustable weight. This gives golfers the option to personalize their M1 to their exact specifications, leading to perfect performance and distance to fit their swing.
Heroic Henrik
The golf world has run out of superlatives for Henrik Stenson, who claimed his first Major title at Royal Troon last weekend - what a final round we were treated to. Has there ever been a more impressive final round in Open Championship history?
Both the Swede and 2013 Open champion, Phil Mickelson carded 63s around the famous links, but it was Stenson - who shot his 63 on Sunday - who prevailed, despite the American posting a hugely impressive 65.
On any other day, Mickelson would have been celebrating his sixth Major. To put their scoring into perspective, Mickelson (-17) finished three shots shy of Stenson but 11 clear of JB Holmes in solo third.
It was a two-horse race for the Claret Jug before they teed off on Sunday, but few people could have expected them to surge further clear in the manner they did. If you've been on holiday and haven't checked out the highlights yet, be sure to do so, it was something else.
Hopefully that's got the juices flowing for many of you to get out and play, no doubt these two super pros have inspired many young golf fans watching on, it really was sport at its very best.
So, three down, one to go… that's the PGA Championship next week.
Throw in the Olympics and the Ryder Cup and there's still a lot of fantastic golf to look forward to. If they're half as entertaining as events at Royal Troon, we're in for a treat.
If you have been inspired to get out and improve your game during this weekends action then get in touch here and we can book a session in to help you on your way.
This week is meant to be superb so come down and enjoy the sunshine.
